Membership: To be eligible for Council membership, one must be a member of a club Federated with National Garden Clubs, Inc. (NGC) and must have received an Accredited Gardening Consultants’ certificate or must have passed two of the four courses. To retain membership, a Consultant must remain in good standing with NGC and pay annual dues of $10.00 to the FGCMD Council. The Council stimulates interest in horticulture, encourages the growing of plant material to its peak perfection and keeps members and the public informed of advanced gardening techniques. Regular meetings shall be held twice a year.
Schools: For members interested in gardening and horticulture. Topics include basic botany, soils, growing annuals, perennials, trees and shrubs, fruits and vegetables. Information on lawns, pests, plant diseases, plant classification, pruning and related subjects. Certification for a Gardening Consultant is earned by attending four courses in a seven-year period. Members are welcome to attend the courses without the objective of becoming a Gardening Consultant and schools are open to everyone whether or not they are garden club members.
