The Federated Garden Clubs of Maryland is comprised of 81 garden clubs with approximately 3000 members divided into five districts located throughout the state, from the Eastern Shore of the Chesapeake Bay to the mountains of Western Maryland. The FGCMD is in the Central Atlantic Region of the National Garden Clubs, a nonprofit educational organization headquartered in St. Louis, Missouri.
Members participate in many activities including:
- Floral Design
- Horticulture
- Garden Study
- Historic Preservation
- Conservation and Environmental Concerns
- Young Gardeners Groups
- Scholarship programs
The Federation's office is located in the Vollmer Center at the Cylburn Arboretum in the city of Baltimore. Members of the Federated Garden Clubs of Maryland were instrumental in the development of the Vollmer Center, a model of green technology illustrating how we can reduce energy use, conserve water and help to restore our environment.
